image (1)I’m a big, big, big, HUGE fan of Miss Beyoncé Knowles Carter. I respect her as an artist, performer, business woman and everything else and I truly feel she’s one of the best celebs of all time. However, sometimes I try to downplay my excitement for her in public because I don’t want to get the label of being “one of those Crazy Beyoncé Stans”. Because in all honesty The BeyHive can get a little crazy, whether they are praising or defending every little thing she does.

There was a time, back in the early 00’s, where I admit I was a little obsessive. I would talk about her constantly, I would even ask strangers how they felt about her just to gauge if I wanted to be friends with them. Online, I was in ultra defense mode, constantly, whenever anybody tried to talk down about her and her skills. I’ve cooled off considerably since then, because at the end of the day Beyoncé is going to always have a gang of people looking for the tiniest negative thing to say about her, and I’m not being paid to be on her Internet Defense Team.

Some Stans take to defending Yonce online like it’s a full time job. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram amplified this, so that everyone on those sites knew if they ever said anything remotely bad about Bey, the BeyHive was going to attack. Keri Hilson is one of the more notable victims, after her subliminal shots at Beyonce on her 2009 remix of “Turnin Me On”, she was dragged so hard that her career was never the same (it was so early in her career that it probably single-handedly stunted it). The draggings didn’t stop, and almost 4 years later Keri had a “Twitter Breakdown” over all of her Bey-stings, whining things like It’s TOO much!! Please! Is everything I tweet gonna be “intentionally misinterpreted” as a statement abt someone/drama I know nothing about?” and “You have no idea what your hateful words could do to someone’s spirit. Years of verbal abuse from strangers all day long. Enough is enough!”

Keyshia Cole obviously didn’t learn anything from that and was dragged mercilessly when she took issue with Beyonce’s “Bow Down”, Tweets like this from @uh_huh_honeyy immediately followed “@keyshiacole you get paid in Trident Layers and monopoly money!! you can’t afford to come for B!!! #shh #BowDown”. Plenty of other celebs have gotten the Drag for anything that resembled a diss to our Queen including Tamar Braxton, Kim Kardashian, TLC‘s Chilli, and even Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams among countless others. It got so bad that Beyonce herself addressed her fans at a Press Conference and told them to “calm down”.

#ThatTime that dude pulled Beyonce off stage #WhereTheyDoDatAT

Beyonce herself has felt the wrath of the BeyHive on her “Mrs. Carter World Tour”, where she got her hair pulled by an over-zealous fan. A guy slapped her ass while she was on stage. And she was even pulled directly OFF stage by a fan (like, where was he planning on taking her?). Being the Classy Bitch she is, she didn’t even get mad, she held off  her security from rushing the guy and said “it’s alright, he just got a little excited, it’s okay”.

Basically, the LOVE for Beyonce sometimes takes over the BeyHive’s emotions and they can’t help but go for the jugular. So the Stans may get incredibly vicious, but it does actually come from a loving and positive place. And Beyonce loves us right back, even if we get a little carried away, she’s shown time and time again that she appreciates us. But these are the reasons that I often stay quiet in public about my love for her, because nobody wants to be lumped in with the fanatical Stans. When “BEYONCE” was released, I never brought it up to anybody other than close friends, because I didn’t want people to be like “oh, he’s one of THEM”.image (2)

The great thing is that over time Beyonce has accomplished so much and established herself as a Living Legend that her Haters are literally grasping for straws trying to downplay her. So much so that us Stans don’t even bother trying to defend her because we know those Haters are just being silly and delusional. Our work is pretty much done, and all we do now is ENJOY our Bey.
