“MusiqintheMagiq”, Musiq Soulchild’s sixth studio album and I finally listened to it late last week and was quite pleased. However I still have to listen to Jill Scott’s latest before I post a joint review of both Philly R&B Stars. Right now I just wanted to share one of my favorite cuts from Musiq’s latest it’s a beautiful song “backtowhere” about that feeling of falling out of love with someone you’ve been with for a while. I can’t personally relate in the romantic sense, but the production and his vocal arrangements here are killer. Enjoy.
Downloaded Neon Indian’s album “Psychic Chasms” about a month ago. I was really excited to finally be able to hear their full album since I had been hearing random tracks from them on my LastFm. I enjoyed the album (maybe have to listen to it in full again), but this song “Mind, Drips” was easily the standout.
So when I heard it again on LastFm this past Tuesday, it’s really been the song that’s been playing in my head the rest of this week. It reminds me of M83, but this group puts a bit of their own stamp on this song with the Lo-Fi vocals, funky bassline, and hypnotic keyboarding.
